San Luis, Santiago de Cuba, mar. 12, 25.-<\/strong> Hace 67 a\u00f1os un pu\u00f1ado de hombres, con un joven de 27 a\u00f1os al frente, reci\u00e9n ascendido a Comandante, arrib\u00f3 a Piloto del Medio el 11 de marzo de 1958, luego de diez largos d\u00edas de traves\u00eda, con el prop\u00f3sito de extender la lucha guerrillera al norte de la provincia de Oriente.<\/div>\n

Justo en los l\u00edmites de San Luis, en la serran\u00eda que colinda con Holgu\u00edn, fue fundado el II Frente Oriental Frank Pa\u00eds Garc\u00eda.<\/div>\n

Pertenecientes a los actuales territorios de Santiago de Cuba, Guant\u00e1namo y Holgu\u00edn, el frente lleg\u00f3 a abarcar 12 000 kil\u00f3metros cuadrados y, en apenas nueve meses y 22 d\u00edas de campa\u00f1a, sus combatientes participaron en m\u00e1s de 250 acciones de guerra, tomaron 31 cuarteles o guarniciones, causaron m\u00e1s de 1 970 bajas al enemigo y ocuparon m\u00e1s de 1 500 armas.<\/div>\n
